I recently joined the Rockford mailing list. However, I am not able to get my hands on some Basket Press shiraz. What are the must buys from the mail order except the Basket Press shiraz and Black shiraz? Is the Rifle Range cab any good? thanks.

You are not able to buy the wine you mentioned for at least a year as a member. You need to show them your loyality before they will allow you to buy their top wine.

Just be patient and I don't think Rockford produce bad wines IMO

I thought the CS (now Rifle Range) was stonewaller-only too, but on my order form the BP and BS are marked "Not Available" and the Rifle Range isn't. So, it appears that newbies like us can order it if we're quick. Maybe they just increased their cabernet production.

The Rifle Range Cabernet is available whether you are a Stonewaller or Waiting List mailing list member. The guys and gals at Rockford consider that the 2001 cabernet is the best they've ever made - in fact, at a recent bunch of Rockford dinners in Melbourne (held at Asiana) the '91 cabernet supposedly blew the '91 BP out of the water ... :o. Many at the winery consider that the cabernet doesn't get the kudos it deserves due to the Cult of Basket Press and Black Shiraz.

On my current mailout it says "as a stonewaller" blah, but I don't think I am a Stonewaller as it does not make the BP or BS available to me ??

Having just come back from the winery, I believe the Rifle range is their best cab for many years.

Ian indicated people are more likely to move up the "wait list" if they buy regularly, so perhaps purchasing the Rifle Range is worth it for two reasons. Fro memory, the Rod and Spur wasn't too bad either.
