The Murray River and Crocodiles

Post by David »

Came across a bottle of 2003 Crocoidile Rock Shiraz with a US export label.

The label said -

"The powerhouse of the Australian Viticultural industry is centred on the banks of Australia's mightiest river - the Murray.

Not only does the mighty Murray support our most viable vineyards but at its original source it also harbours our most lethal, prehistoric predator - the crocodile.

This classic Murray grown wine celebrates the evolution of the Murray from wilderness to a wine wonderland."

With global warming, salinity levels and carp, the Murray could probably support a few crocodiles.

A few years back while on a golf trip on the Murray, one of the boys used a pick up line on a chick who proceeded to laugh in his face.

His deadly serious line was "it's a bit scary swimming in the Murray with all the crocodiles isn't it?"

A few of us killed ourselves when he told us what he had said.

As it turns out though, it seems he was right.

They are probably using the floodplains that feed the Darling River to stretch credulity.

Of course, they may actually well mean the famous Snowy Mountain Crocodile.
