I assume then you are going? Or is that a stupid question! Anyway, if we don't meet up before hand maybe we can arrange the Black Shiraz swap while you are in town?

Anybody interested in an off-line in Sydney around this time as well??

Is this worth going to?
About how many producers attend and how many days does it take to get round all the stands?
How many people would attend on the public days versus the trade days, i.e. is it better to go on a trade day or a public day given the choice?
How frequently are the spittoons emptied?

It was worth going to in 2004, waiting to see the final list of exhibitors this time around.

I didn't get to trade day last time, but an early start strategy was good, crowds built up later in the day and some regional stands were far too crowded, eg WA.

It was easy to fill in 2 days just on reds, additional wines were apparently available only on trade day..

Spittoons were big plastic bags in big cardboard boxes and were replaced quite frequently, but sometimes hard to get to when the "drinking" crowds hit.

The dates are listed as 14th-17th July but advance tickets are only for 15th and 16th.
The 14th is a Friday with no advance ticket sales.
My first day last time it was on was the Friday which AM and to 3 to 4PM was easily accessible.
My first day would be the Friday again if it is open to the public as it was last time.

Ron, it looks like the Friday is invitation-only, not sure what you have to do to get an invitation...

Only two days public tasting by the look of it, I suspect they are aiming the public sessions at the weekend to get people in from the start and hopefully avoid the after-work drinkers dropping in to get pi**ed. It must get pretty tiring for the exhibitors too with 3 days of public tasting.

I think I can pretend to be on a buying mission for Auswine for a day, I might even taste a white or two if I have to, but I'd rather be the specialist red wine buyer.
