Maybe some bring the bubbles and some bring the cab or we try and match 2 wines from different cellars so we only end up with about 2 bottles each. I would always try my best but 4 bottles of red would probably see me a bit to sloshed to appreciate some of the wines   .

Glen, that's what I was trying to get at, 2 bottles per person or 3 per couple should be more than enough (unless we strike a lot of cork problems), but we need 2 bottles or a magnum of each wine to cover 20 people, so at least for the sparklings, coordination is probably necessary.

Ok, So count Brian and I in for 1 Cork count prize John's Blend and 1 for Brian. I don't have much in the way of top notch bubbles but would love to try the 1994 Seppelts show. I am happy to grab 2 bottles or if someone wants to pitch in for another I will just bring 1. I might also throw in a backup cab in case of the dreaded cork fairy :( .

Guys,

2 bottles per person is a bit ridiculous. I don't mind getting pissed, but seriously. No problems with people bringing backups but to put 40 bottles of wine on the table for twenty people is a bit much.

Can we just make it one bottle per person and if someone feels the need to bring a backup, then so be it. Or if someone particularly wants to bring more bottles then that's cool too but mandating two bottles a person just seems OTT and a waste and could also get us into trouble with the RSA laws with the restaurant.

I agree that cordination so we have two bottles or a magnum of each wine is a good thing as it looks like we'll be on two tables so that could work out well.

So, confirming that Lisa and I will attend saturday 10th and I will bring 2 96 707s. I'll decant them earlier in the day.
Cheers,
Kris

I agree with Kris's comments, 2 per head is overkill! One per head with a few backups is fine.

If no one else can match up with them, I can supply a Joseph and a Rockies. If you want me to pair it, let me know what disgorement of the Rockies is required.

I don't know about collaborating in this two of each thing, but I was contemplating an 89 Mentor, maybe a St Peters Cab (does exist) and not sure what else.

is that seppelt? victorian cab? what vintage?... sounds interesting.

As for collaborating, yeah it would be good as everyone gets some to taste, but if ya have a awesome bottle then... why not! makes it harder for the sharing though, but we'll work it out.

I might bring a Wendouree 91 as a spare, or in case the oak-sensitive reject the John's Blend. ;-)

Christo,

My apologies; i'm going to be a scratching. I am double-booked for a 50th that evening, that, while i was warned some time ago over a couple of old Lindeman's LR's, didn't really hit home until the invite arrived last night. Look forward to the next one (what about a Canberra offline, BH?).

Slainte,

My wine selection is a work in progress. Definitely the 89 Mentor (second of my two bottles - the first was great), probably a 92 Rosemount Show Cab and one other bottle - maybe a Woodlands if I can fish it out of the depths of the cupboard, or Three Hills Charles Andreas.

SWMBO (Sanja) and I would love to come as well, if it isn't too late.

My best options for my two bottles would be

Wynn's Black label Cabernet Sauvignon 1990, 1995 or 1998
Wendouree Cabernet Sauvignon 1995
Yalumba Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon 1995, 1996 or 1998
Lake's Folly Cabernets 1999
Wirra Wirra Angelus Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

Rockford Black Shiraz (dsg 2005)
Wirra Wirra Anthem Sparkling Shiraz (dsg 2004)
Gartlemann's Sparkling Shiraz 2004

Happy to take suggestions as to what to bring from above list in order to best complement the existing selections. Also have a sparkling chambourcin from D'Arenberg (if that doesn't stray too far from the set agenda.)

Finally - is anyone interested in having stickies/forts? I've got a Fortified Shiraz from Wirra Wirra which is quite interesting. (I had a bottle of Isabella Tokay but I... um... sem to have polished it off already... must get more).

OK, well I'd love to bring a third person as well (Sanja's best friend Melanie, who has quite a discerning palate)

My wines:

Wynn's Black Label 90
Wendouree 95

Wirra Sparkling Shiraz (to contrast the Rockford)

Will also bring an Angelus 02 in case of cork/oxid problems, and a Fortified Shiraz for curiosity value.

I haven't got hold of the SSRS yet and since Manning is bringing the Wirra Wirra I can get a bottle of that so we have 2 of the same. Hopefully North Syd Cellars have 04 DSG as they are right near work.

On another note is anyone coming from the Northern beachs / North shore that would like to share a cab ride home?

I can also bring a Gartlemann's Sparkling, which is quite decent, although certainly not in the same league as the Rockford.

I've got a dozen of the Wirra Anthem, and am happy to bring a second if needs be.

I might as well bring one of my auction special 70s VPs - the 1973 Baileys I took to my last offline was quite good.

Alright...

i think that perhaps we may cap it at 20, where it now stands with late additions, as wine tasting become harder with a larger group. Am off to work now & will update list in morning.

Wow! with that many people attending I will have to swap the Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 1996 with another of the Yalumba The Reserve Cab Sauv Shiraz 1998.

From the list most of the wines are cab for the night. If anyone are interested in Shiraz, I could bring 2 X Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 1994 instead.
