Adrian,

My interest in wine is only a recent thing and I am reading as many things as possible to improve my knowledge. My short term goal is to know enough to give me a good chance of buying decent wines at decent prices (and nothing over $30 at this stage).

Given my inexperience, one problem I do have when reading tasting notes on this forum and in magazines, and the winemakers notes on bottles of wine is recognising the smells referred to - blackcurrant, plum, cherry - it's still all a bit of a mystery to me.

This product seems like something which could increase my enjoyment of wine. Are you (or any other members) able to provide any other tips to help with recognising smells or tastes?

Cheers,
Jimmy

Tom Stevenson's mind-jogging list can be helpful.
