Wines drank

Post by peterk »

A big week wine wise, two birthdays and a family visit. No formal notes and a lot of blurry recollections.
pennies 00 90a
Nice chardy, better then recent Yattarnas

Cyril Henschke 97
ok, but didnt show as well as previous bottles

Mt Mary Quintet 97
nice wine but showed some dirty cab flavours I didnt find in a later vintage one drank recently.

Pennies 83 Grange
big, rich, and pruney think I will give the others at least another five years

Torbreck 01 Factor
nice wine, well recieved by the table

Moondarra 99? Pinot

asture and didnt ring any bells

Tahbilk 93 Cab/Sauv
good wine, I like the style

Pennies 94 and 95 St Henri
The 94 was a better wine dark cherry/black fruit nose and flavours

D'Arry 99 Coppermine Rd
A wine I havent drank much of, but I think I liked it.

Hope all had a good week.
Cheers
Peter

Hi all,

Not much of note this week however of interest was the release of the 2004 Rouge Homme Coonawarra Cabernet. Nice Coonawarra fruit but nothing to excite the palate. The straight cabernet label I believe was discontinued by Pennies a few years ago and the brand sold with the buyer prefering to use the label for cheap Limestone Coast red blends from young vines. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Scored a few 1980 Yalumba Melbourne Cup winners VP's at recent auction. Rediculously low prices ($10) all bottles in superb condition and fresh as a daisy on the palate. Just yummy!!. That's the best TN you'll get from me.

Tried the 2003 Ingoldby Shiraz. Pleasant quaffer but can't see how JH rated it 94
