Brief TN - 2001 Crittenden's "I" Sangiovese

Post by edrobins »

Blend of King Valley and Avoca Sangiovese @ 13% alcohol - opened good solid mid brick red. Plenty of fruit and a touch of smokiness (?) on the nose. Very approachable in the mouth right from the start. Good depth of fruit flavour, slightly furry but pleasant soft tannin, just enough acid, mid weight and surprisingly long finish. Young but very well balanced, very flavoursome, most enjoyable. Held up well over a couple of days. Excellent with food, including not overpowering a flavoursome omelette. This is one I'll definitely buy again as a well-priced food and slurping red. Recommended.
