wine tote

Post by escargot »

I am on the search for some type of wine bag so that I can bring some French wine back from Europe in June. I was hoping to get hold of a 6 bottle bag that could also double up to carry a few bottles to dinner parties.
I have searched around and seen a 'wine safe' platinum carry bag in America that appears to completely protect the wine but at the same time looks quite bulky/heavy. Not to mention shipping costs on the item. This could make the weight spiral out of control once the bag is full with wine. Perhaps a synthetic material bag is the way to go.
Does anyone on this forum have any good sites that sell such bags as a relative would have to buy the bag on my behalf?
Lastly, what about customs? I see the limit is 3 bottles per/person. Is it too risky to bring some good french wine in and take a gamble on more than 3 bottles - could well be a cost saving exercise that backfires......

If you exceed the limit then Customs will (at least in theory) charge duty and tax on all the wine you bring in
