TN: Houghton C.W. Ferguson Cabernet Malbec 2016

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

Decanted 3 hours before service. Rich plummy and blackberry fruit was jumping out of the decanter. Purple black in colour.

The nosehas settled a little after time in the decanter, but is still powerful, with ripe dark plums, blue and black berries, vanillan oak, mocha, and a slight eucalypt note. The palate is rich and full bodied, with developed dark fruits, chalky tannins and plenty of supporting acod. Long and satisfying finish, and all in balance.

Plenty of time left in this wine.

Cheers
Allan

$39 a bottle on special at cellarone . Anyone want a link I’ll send you one so I get my spotter’s credit 😄

But seriously, I’ve a love hate relationship with these corporations. You get a free six pack most months of a $30 wine, if you by x amount of wine in value. So when you buy a wine like this on special and get the other 6, dividing your purchase by 12 brings bottle average to the $20 mark.

At $20 development under stelvin and corporate label illusion worth a punt.

Sorry to corrupt your note Allan. I just got a fresh email about this label. And it’s sadly where the industry going for many brands- how low will they go?

Snap. We had the 17 model of the Ferguson last night. Similar TNs but a little lighter than previous model. Not the expected power. A bit more commercial than I was expecting.

That’s a dreaded word for me Carl! “Commercial”. And it’s the issue with the new styles of wines coming from these big commercial conglomerates.

Thanks for the note.

Like others I have some in the cellar from previous discount deals. I treat them as quaffers, albeit have only had one or two and the balance sitting for a bit longer but will be weekday or lazy weekend drinking.

Cheers, Ed

Agree Jamie. The 13 model was much more interesting and had personality.

Distinction wines free 6-pack of 2017 Houghton CW Ferguson Cab Malbec on spend above $349.

https://lnk.rise-ai.com/Y20otCRRSNJHUqu

If you need a referral.(Copy all of it into a browser including the https://)

You will receive $30 credit if you sign up.

You'll have to find something to buy, it's more expensive on Distinction, as the prices are more expensive than Cellarone.

There is a little hack to purchase a single bottle of Petaluma Riesling, use the $30 credit and it should cost you around $2-4 for the bottle delivered 😂
