TN: Myattsfield ‘Dudley’ Durif 2020

Post by Waiters Friend »

G’day

Durif is well known in Australia as a staple in Rutherglen, Victoria. Myattsfield planted the first Durif vine in W.A. in 2004. Named ‘Dudley’, this vine has been the progenitor of Myattsfield’s plantings from then on.

14.6% alcohol. Deep purple in colour. A powerful nose, with blueberries, black plums, cedary oak, and some earthiness. The palate is rich with plush primary fruits, some cedar and vanilla, and modest earthiness. The wine is medium to full bodied, and mouth filling, leading to a moderate finish.

From experience, these wines age very well, and this one is a baby – it has a long life ahead of it.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
