G'day

We tried two wines from Montefalco last night, and both impressed. We will buy more of these.

Scacciadiavoli Montefalco Grechetto 2024: 13% alcohol. Pale lemon and bright in the glass. Fragrant nose of fresh cut ripe pears and some florals. The palate mixes the pear with a strong apricot flavour. Fresh and clean with fruits and acid in balance. Very good wine.

Scacciadiavoli Montefalco Sagrantino 2019. 14.5% alcohol. Ruby colour and translucent – lighter than I was expecting. The nose is expressive, with red plums, baking spices and a touch of earth. The palate has more vibrant red fruits, cinnamon, clove and more earth. I’ve had Sagrantinos in the past that were thickly textured, but this is only moderately so and maybe all the better for it. Medium to long finish and should age well.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
