G'day
I’ve been buying and drinking the Myattsfield Joseph Myatt Reserves for over a decade now, and this was the tasting note for this wine from a vertical tasting I hosted in 2021:
2015 Joseph Myatt Reserve: Cabernet Sauvignon 63%, Merlot 32%, Durif 5%, 18 months in new French and American oak hogsheads, 13.8%% alc. The nose has savoury oak, black pepper, black fruits, redcurrants, Ribena, thyme and some meaty notes. The palate shows ripe, almost tart fruit, with acid slightly prominent, grippy tannins, and a touch of leather.
Four years further on, and the wine has evolved a little further. There’s less Ribena and pepper, and the leather is slightly more pronounced. Apart from that, the acid is fresh and clean, the tannins are still grippy, and the fruits are into the red spectrum. Long finish, and a satisfying wine.
Plenty of life left in what is now a ten-year-old wine.
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
