G'day
This is the standard shiraz from Faber, and represents excellent VFM every year. This vintage was also the 'flood' vintage in the Swan Valley, where 114mm hit in one day in February, and flooded those vineyards close to the river. Fortunately, Faber is situated about a km inland, and got wet, but not wiped out.
A fragrant nose, with red fruits, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, a little blueberry and some savoury oak. The palate is soft and juicy up front, with the tannins providing some dryness to the wine. Acid is noticeable, across the outside of the tongue and provides freshness. Reasonable length, and not showing the darker fruits and length that I see in other vintages.
Normally, I would suggest that these wines will go a few more years, but for this vintage only, I would say "drink now".
Cheers
Allan
