At half price you'd be mad not too! (I am mad - don't buy 12 of anything no matter what the offers).

Michael, I almost agree, but I have tried this wine a few times and its great...for $17:50 bottle, a dozen is probably not enough, but a mate and or the lad will help me out.
I have a wry smile re the Torbreck thread, they don't have a Shiraz of this calibre at this price point. Never mind Prof Lynn is a great bloke and probably realises a few things; wine is a bit slow to move, people are watching their pennies, so price it to clear it, rather than play games through VM or some other mystery player.
I do think if this was the Cabernet, there would be punters purchasing multiple cases and everyone would be on it.
I don't buy many 12s these days but when there is a bargain with pedigree, or its Wynns Black Label, game on.

Craig, Lucky you nobody fighting with you over the 80 and 99 Wynns BL. I opened a bottle of the 80 last week and it's full of favour and drinking very well.

Cheers Alan, I reckon I have seen your name pop up at Wickham's or other auctions and yes you like Coonawarra and Wynns as well. I was thinking of back filling from the 70s but will stick with the 80s vintages. I used to have 6 or more of all but many have been consumed.

I have probably shown my hand now and wish we could work together to share the spoils. I know Con has a few and there's another poster on here who states dozens and dozens of BLs from the 70s and 80s in the cellar that he has no intention of drinking. For a fair price, I would certainly like to buy a few.

I still have about 6 or so to get... mainly odd years, as it was even years for many years that were the better wines.

Cheers Craig

I did a tasting at Port Phillip Estate yesterday. A $10 fee for 5 wines, but they throw in one or two extra. Lunch at the Piazza at Montalto. Just tasted a couple to decide on a lunch wine. Both wineries were pumping with a big crowd on a Saturday afternoon.

I know we just had summer (when everything goes brown), but I can’t remember the peninsula looking so dry before - even up around Red Hill. All the fruit has been picked now apparently and it’s been another early vintage.

Both wineries have a long list of wines on offer, which I might slowly work through over the next year or two. Liked seeing a list of back vintages at Montalto. They had 8 on offer, if you are a club member you can ask for others.

Purchases -

Port Phillip Estate Red Hill Chardonnay 22
Port Phillip Estate Red Hill Pinot Noir 23
Kooyong Estate Chardonnay 21
Montalto Chardonnay 22
Montalto Pinot Gris 23 x 2

Not a wine purchase as such, but just ordered "The Australian Ark", Andrew Caillard's tome on Australian wine history.

Should be some interesting reading

Malcolm...so far it's been a very good read. Volume one is very dense, I am 200 pages in, it's heavy going but just starting to unravel...100+ pages before SA is mentioned.
