December 2024 Purchases

Post by Hacker »

Five days into December and getting some wine purchases ready. From JD Cellars today:
12 x 2023 Bradley Hutton Wildberry Chardonnay. Wilyabrup Gin Gin clone, all the things I love.
I have purchased the 2021 version of this and couldn't believe such a beautiful chardonnay needs to be constantly discounted. You could also say $90 is a tad too expensive.

Unfortunately have learned the lesson to not order wine in summer…. As both have been delivered during hot weather and I’m paranoid that they might’ve been spoiled

Yeah I copped the exact same thing with my 3 John riddochs

My others were fine through a premium delivery service temp control that the particular retailer offered and I was more than happy to pay for

But watching those on the tracking nearly gave me a stroke reckon it did a whole lap of every Aus post warehouse in nsw and vic for over a week , my fault and like yourself I can only learn from it

Worse thing is they are long term wines , feel I might have to sacrifice one then go get a couple more at a local retailer

Any advice in this area , would they be spoiled already if they have been subjected to heat or is it something that alters them after , or if I have one and it’s fine it’s siblings likely will be and stay fine moving forward 🤔

As per my above post

Just sacrificed one , no problems

Yummo , beautiful wine smooth fine and silky

However for my taste , (both for what they are now) balnaves the tally (like 2004 tally) blows it out of the water for concentration, body , but this makes up for in perfume , refinement

Happy to cellar both any day !!!

Thanks for the note.
I have 2010-21 Tally and yes a good wine...but surprised it blew it out of the water. A much smaller make no doubt, but think both would stack up well. Hopefully I'm still alive in 2041 to look at it in 20 years. Suspect it will more than hold its own.

I remember having the 2004 Tally in a very good lineup, including JR. It was superb, but the wine of that tasting happened to be the 2004 Malleea

About to open a 2010 Tally for dinner, will report back
