G'day
The last time I tried one of these was as part of a WA Chardonnay tasting last year. This was the group's tasting note at the time:
Killerby Foundations 2017 (Margaret River, 12.5% alcohol): Pale yellow in colour and very clear in the glass. Citrus and under-ripe peach on the nose, with lemon pith and baking spices. The palate shows more citrus, juicy apples, sweet oak richness, and a touch of butter. This is complex in an understated way, and experience tells me this will age well. Highly regarded by the group.
The colour has slightly darkened in the past 18 months. The peaches have ripened somewhat and the nutty oak has emerged from the citrus. The palate has a lovely texture - not quite creamy, and not quite tannic grip, but a combination of both. The peach and citrus fruits sit comfortably over the top and flow gently through to the finish.
Possibly at its best now.
Cheers
Allan
