Wine rack DIY
I'm building a home cellar and about to build some racking. But before I try reinvent the wheel, I thought I'd check if anyone else has built racking similar to this timber lattice style racking. Do you have plans?
I know I can do the Reo mesh that plenty of others have done but timber is one of my other hobbies so I'd prefer to go that way.

I've developed a basic cellar storage using Bordeaux racks. Come in all sizes. I used 12x12. 3 units that fitted nicely in a cupboard area and picked them up for about $100 each on Facebook Marketplace. Very efficient. Lots for sale from people who got into collecting but couldn't retain a critical mass by buying as fast as they drunk.

I made my own rack like the one pictured, but without the top shelf.
I was easy but took some time gluing and nailing all the little struts. I made it about 20 years ago when I mainly had Bandeaux shaped bottles so its hard to squeese in Burgundy shaped bottles. So make sure you accommodate for that. I would add two reinforcing pieces of timber horizontally across to stop bowing laterally, front and back it you are using pine like I did.

What I have done is buy a wine cube (similar to your photo but only 30 bottles) that comes unassembled and plan to just copy it. I have all the tools required (table saw, drop saw and nail guns etc), so for me it will be fairly simple and I can pretty much make it whatever size I want. Just need to source the timber.

Could you do me a huge favour if not too much trouble. Could you measure the vertical timber sections. I'm assuming 20x30 or 25x42. Don't want them too chunky as that gets expensive and kills the elegant aesthetic but don't want to undercook it and find it collapsed under bottle weight.
I'm assuming the horizontal bottle struts are 15x15 but would be good to confirm.
I have plenty of timber. I'd most likely use eucalypt unless that proves problematic for the struts (splitting when nailing) in which case I'll use silky oak.

At the time I picked up the pine from the reject pile at the timber yard so I used 40x20 vertical and 10x10 horizontal.
