TN: Fermoy Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2017

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

I first came across Fermoy Estate over 30 years ago, and it was one of my early Margaret River favourites. Since those days, they have introduced Reserve wines into the range.

Medium yellow in colour. Nose is fruit forward with lemon and grapefruit, ripe peach and nectarine. Slight savoury oak very much in the background.

The palate shows more of the stone fruits and citrus, and oak is marginally more noticeable than on the nose. Acid is merely supportive, and the wine has reasonable length.

The fruit quality is apparent, and the wine is clean and fresh. It's just not showing the extra complexity and interest I would expect in a Reserve label.

Cheers

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
