Hello all. Greetings from England.
Recently I purchased a mixed case of Aussie Rieslings and Hunter Semillon at an auction. One of the semillons is by Twin Wells. I have not heard of this producer and have found out nothing on the internet.
The vintage is 1999. Is this likely to be still drinking OK? The label says it was produced by Twin Wells pty, 68 Alfred St, Milsons Point, NSW 2061. Has anyone heard of them?

Re: Semillon query
Hi David
Likewise a name I've never encountered before.
The address is a business address in Sydney (just over the harbour bridge to the north of the city). Whilst there is a wine operation currently using that as a registered address, it's an Italian wine and food importer. My suspicion is it was a bulk wine negociant style business, but let's see if anyone has anything more concrete.
Checking Cellartracker, whilst there's just one mention of an SSB blend, there are a few tasting notes for various Twin Wells Shiraz, plus a snippet in a tasting note referencing TJ wines who appear to be a small English online only wine shop (that I'd not heard of) who stocked the wine. Their current selection looks like it's competing at the supermarket level, rather than anything boutique, and those Cellartracker notes aren't great.
However... as long as it's typically low alc% for Hunter semillon (maybe 10-11%) I'd open the bottle with the possibility of it being alright, but probably expecting to be disappointed.
I hope it turns out to be a survivor.
Regards
Ian

Re: Semillon query
Thanks for your responses. It sounds as though I shouldn't expect much from this wine!
