I purchased some wine without much thought on grays online and then afterwards tried to find their online presence and can’t find any trace of the winery, as a new wine drinking I’m curious if this is normal?
The grays auction has the wine listed as receiving a gold medal and a wine critic of score 91, so I’m surprised I can’t find any trace of the wine online.
The wine is Fossil Tree Cabernet 2020 from Limestone Coast SA.
Unable to find online presence of Grays auction wine
Re: Unable to find online presence of Grays auction wine
My guess would be that it's a specially branded wine intended for restaurant trade / supermarket, where perhaps the order got cancelled, ending up at auction. I can't imagine a winery having no online presence.
As for wine critic scores, they can be utterly meaningless at worst (e.g. I could call a wine an Ian S 99 pointer, and hey presto there's a '99 point wine'). Even at best, I don't like points, as we perceive wines so differently, and I don't want a wine that Halliday loves, or Hooke adores, but one that I will enjoy).

Yes, likely some proprietary label, not a stand-alone business. Points mean nowt, as Ian says.
