I started to make soup and missed the last 10 minutes. 91 Triolet, a 1970 Shiraz Burgundy, some Chenin etc were on the wish list, but all I was left with was a single bottle of Brown Brothers Cabernet.

Hi Mate.

I picked up a few last night, I’ll post a list later.
One that I did get was the 91 Triolet.

Cheers Con.

When I rushed back at 18:15 I had a feeling that you'd bought it Con - the price had jumped a lot.

Did you get the 1970 Saltram Bin 56 and the 2 bottles of St Hallet C12 Pedro as well ?

The one I really annoyed about was the 96 Balmoral. Went for an ok price and I remember being a big fan of the wine all through the 90's.

Got some Bin 920 1990 ( x 4 ) at auction along with a rare Campbell’s Merchant Prince Muscat bottled in 1983.

Getting up to Hong Kong end of the month to move a few hundred bottles of Piedmont wine home. This is very pleasing as I’ve started drinking what I have here and it makes me numb thinking of a depleted Italian cellar in Australia. Prices are mouthwatering here to replace and a falling $AUD and demand will only accelerate pricing.

See there's half a dozen 920s in the Oddbins auction email this morning

Con, thanks for the reminder, think I have 4-6 of 96, 97, 98, 99 Petaluma Riesling rolling around somewhere.
Well done on the Wynns and MM, you are not mucking around in getting a big vertical together...hope some of that ultra French stuff was a nice offset!

BTW apart from a few old Lindies DP90's and WH2's that I picked up many moons ago, you are inspiring me to think about looking at some of these fortifieds. There must be cupboards of the stuff floating around from the era of my parents, when apart from the odd table wine most drank sherry and lager.

Regarding the St Mary's Port, I bidded, and won, this lot a couple of auctions back. It was described as ' 1967 Chiltern Vintage Port'. I'm a fan of Keith Gayfer's Durif vintage port so you can imagine my disappointment when it turned out to be a tawny port commemorating the centenary, in 1967, of the St Mary's Church in Chiltern. Would be interested to hear what it tastes like. Maker could be Gayfer but perhaps Morris or Gehrig?

Trying is the key word.

The plan is to sell off about another 30 dozen.

After this and what I’ve already sold I will be left with around a 2000 bottle cellar that’s cost me nothing.

Cheers cheers Con.

Yeah, Seppelt are generally always a joy to drink. I've dabbled for years around late 90's and early 00's with shiraz from this producer. Nearly never miss.
I do wonder if the quality has tapered off on new releases as the years have passed, but only time will tell.
I drank one of the ILR's this week, and that was pretty sound, though structurally quite different from, say, Vat 1. I wonder if the ILR is an earlier drinking style. It's quite soft and round. Still good, though.

Had a few very modest GW Reserve 98’s. Dull expressions. Couldn’t fault the wines. Both auction buys from the same cellar
