TN: Main Ridge One Acre Pinot Noir 2015

Post by Waiters Friend »

Purchased from the winery on a trip to the Mornington Peninsula in late 2016.

Delicate nose of strawberry and slightly sour cherries, and showing signs of development. Some five spice, and a modest amount of cedary oak. Some initial earthiness on decanting, but this has blown off now, and the nose is clean and surprisingly fresh (for an eight year old wine).

The palate has a little more complexity, with fine but noticeable tannins and racy acid supporting the fruit flavours. There's also a little mushroom and some pleasing savoury stalky characters. Given the delicacy of the nose, the palate is showing more power behind slightly tart red fruits. Good length and a wine that is showing considerable interest as it opens up. Excellent example of MP pinot.

Cheers
