TN: Woodlands Margaret 2014 Cabernet blend

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

This is a blend of 79% cabernet sauvigon, 13% merlot and 8% malbec. It's only my second bottle from a six-pack purchased some years ago.

Deep purple / black in the glass. Savoury oak sits over the top of sweet blackberry, rich dark plums, black olives, leather polish and just a hint of capsicum on the nose. The pawell integratedlate is rich and flavourful, where the fruit comes to the fore, with the oak and acid in a supporting role. Tannins are integrated and there's a silky mouthfeel to the wine. It finishes long and full, and the fruit flavours linger.

Plenty of time left for this one.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

Thanks for the TN Allan.

Agree this is a great release and fortunate to have went long on this vintage. The 2018 release could be even better!
Cheers

Thanks for the note Allan.

I had a 2012 a few months ago and still found it to be very primary, it’s got a long life ahead of it and I think will start to be at its best (for my preference) from 15+ years.

Cheers Ed
