I did bid initially on the 99 Con, but it was only a nice to have, so stopped at the 40 mark - as I said in the other thread, I was trying to make some room and failed.

There were a few other I would have liked as well - the Yeringberg Marsannes and the 51 Old Madeira were in the list.

Well done on the 85 Wendouree Con. Had 2 '97s Pressings for lunch today, fabulous. Think there's 3-5 years left.

Hi Craig.

Yeah I scored a 97 Pressings a while ago and this has MB on the label, which I assume is for Malbec. The 85 has nothing on the label and the description on the lot was Pressings Red Blend. Do you or anyone out there know the varieties?

In Perth for a few days and we had an impromptu visit to Kosovich and Talijancich. Nice cellar doors, both of which were quiet. Not a lot of luggage room and only picked up

2 * 2011 Kosovich Chenin
1 * 2020 Kosovich Centenary Chenin
1 * Kosovich Rare Muscat
1 * Rare Tawny, Talijancich
1 * 1961 Solera Liquer Muscat, Talijancich

If I had more room in the suitcase I would have bought some of the Talijancich 81 Reserve Shiraz Liquer and the Rare 78 Solera PX. Both were on tasting (unlike the ones I bought) and were incredible wines - like a lot of old Fortifieds - with silky palates and endless length.

Highlight of the day was standing in the barrel room at Kosovich and breathing in the smell from all the okd barrels.

Thanks Cameron.

Just ordered 2 packs of the Talijancich Museum Fortified Collection which includes 1 each of the rare tawny, 1981 reserve and the 1978 Solera. 3 X bottles of the 1961 muscat.

Interesting thought Jimmya, it’s a region I wouldn’t think of for fortified wine, definitely not with this sort of age.

Thanks guys I’ll have to do some more research.
If anyone can point me to a few other places that would be great.

Cheers Con.

I'm pretty sure the Swan Valley is the second oldest wine region in Oz behind the Hunter.

Its extremely hot in summer, I know Faber have almost had 2 verdhelo vintages in 1 year ie picking 3rd of Jan.

The best and oldest producers of fortified are Talijanisch and Kosovich, but other go alright too, Faber's fortifieds are pretty decent

I have bought a few bottles of fortified from Graylen this year, courtesy of a gift voucher from my mother who thought it was near Melbourne. Only tried 1 - the Classic Muscat - and it was brilliant. Have a bottle of the Rare to try over Xmas.
