EOI: Cellar Build DIY Project Sale

Post by andrewpc »

Hi all,

This is a bit unusual but I thought I'd put it out there in case there is any interest? It won't be for everyone.

About 2 1/2 years ago, I built a cellar in the corner of my garage. It's detailed in this thread and the album can be seen here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ws2CeDU3x9Bkpt8M8

It's been amazing and worked remarkably well, however the time has come for the original garage that the cellar sits within to be replaced (~50 years old) so unfortunately this version of the cellar has to go. I do intend to do something in future but it will be a slightly different approach as I don't have as much free time as before. Therefore I'm offering the basic structure and insulation up for 'sale' in case someone else wants to try something similar. This is not Ikea, you are going to need to turn it into something that works for you, but it has lots to get you started. It's an all or nothing sale, so please don't ask me to split it up.

What's included: All wood framing, insulation, door and flooring. The cellar cooler which is a digitally modified Kelvinator 1.6kw window air conditioner. Original thermostat also provided.

What's not included: The racking, the wine, the decorative wooden box ends, the central wooden trolley and any electrical/electronics/lighting.

I'm in Sydney inner west and you'd need a trailer or van to fit in the large pieces of PIR insulation and timber. Timing will be dependent on getting my builders booked and having the time to dismantle, but should be ready in the next month or two. I'll do my best to get it apart cleanly but there may some minor damage from the dismantling.

There is at least 2-3k of cost if the parts I'm offering were bought new, but if you think you could build something nice for wine (or cheese or beer or meat curing or some other cool idea) then get in touch. I don't want cash but a couple of nice bottles of wine seems appropriate payment.

Thanks
Andrew

Just closing this out. Very happy that someone from this forum came and took all the materials and I'm looking forward to some photos once it is completed. I also scored a great bottle of red that I will enjoy greatly. As for my future plans, stay tuned, the garage is being built now and the replacement cellar (which still has a bit of DIY) is currently being sourced/designed.
