Not quite loading up Mike, but a dozen BP will do (some shortly and another sixer down the track). Its the 30th vintage purchase...where does the time go!!??
I am planning to get a few '18s RR, R&S and Moppa to do a bit of a horizontal. I did the same in the 2010/12 and 16 vintages. Riesling and Semillon may also be on the cards, we'll see.

Incidentally going to Saltram's for lunch on Saturday and then heading to BallyCroft, Whistler and the new Artisans...won't go to Krondorf Rd this week, very expensive month already.

Hope you are keeping well in NYC.

Cheers Craig

I very much enjoyed my cellar door visit to Saltram's back in the early 2000s, especially their tawny port - it was called Pickwick or something like that. I don't recall their Mamre Brooke line being on tasting but I did follow Jeremy Oliver's advice and bought a couple of bottles of the 1998 Mamre Brook and brought them back home to cellar.

I would be very interested in hearing about your cellar door visit to Saltram's.

Cheers ............................... Mahmoud.

Yes Mr Pickwick's Particular Port...a Tawny I believe. Incidentally, and we don't mention price or retailer here, but when a certain national operation closed down a month or so back and morphed into Endeavour Drinks, picked up 6 bottles for a little over $100 (retail I believe is $60 each).

Yes Number 1 was the top shiraz, now there's The Journal and a couple of other expensive labels. Yes Mamre Brook is a good wine, particularly the Cabernet. Can't help thinking whenever Saltram's is mentioned, Metala is never far away. should be a good lunch...winery tour, 3 courses with wine flights.

A mixed dozen of 2018 Ballycroft releases, (Mataro and a couple of different Shiraz wines, one in French the other American oak).

Absolutely fabulous tasting at Ballycroft with Joe Evans who was part of the winemaking/viticulture team at Rockford between 96-02 and then 2010-16. In between he did 8 years at Greenock Creek, so some pretty good experience there. A winery and vineyard tour, just turned up, only the two of us, full range of wines and very reasonably priced. Ballycroft is just on the outskirts of Greenock on the way to Seppeltsfield...very glad my son recommended them.

Mahmoud, very enjoyable wine tour, tasting and lunch. Certainly worth a visit

Saltrams is certainly a popular wedding venue, three scheduled for the day.

2021 Mamre Brook EV Riesling excellent, flinty good acidity and flavour.
2019 Pepperjack Shiraz drinking really well, great VFM proposition and reflection of the vintage.
2016 Mamre Brook Shiraz and 2018 Cabernet also showing very well.
Then tried 2016 No. 1, have not had this wine for years, but superb expression of Barossa Shiraz and even more so that I picked up a sixer a couple months back in a great deal...$44 a bottle IIRC.
Next up The Journal, 2016 or 18 (sorry forgotten), brilliant wine but at $125 pushing the friendship. I would certain buy plenty, if I could.
Pickwick's Tawny was excellent, lovely fruit, Christmas cake, nice spirit, sweet without being cloying, a steal at $16...CD price $55.
Just picked up a gold at last weeks Adelaide wine show, so very happy.

Nice lunch. On the way out was approached to purchase a 2001 The Journal double magnum for $400...just two left she said, but standing up under lights and under cork...did I need it...umm, did I purchase...no.

Yes Mike, actually forgot how good No. 1 is. I am trying to restore a bit of balance in the cellar as far as BV and EV are concerned.
I have a few bottles but think with 2018/19 there are plenty of good offerings. I am looking at BP being the barometer (re price) and won't go above that, but things like Greenock Creek, Travis Earth, Hayes wines, Quin wines, Izway, Ballycroft are ones I might buy a little more of.

The last 6 pack I got was the 2015 Wynn’s Black Label.

I am down to 2 mailing lists ( and heading towards one)

4 x 2017 Bell Hill Pinot Noir
2 x 2017 Bell Hill Chardonnay

Expensive wines at NZ$120 a pop but I love the restrained elegant style and fruit purity and the modest sub 13% alcohol levels (esp when compared to Central Otago PNs)

Auction time again in Melbourne and Covid again sent the prices soaring. I picked up some Orlando Tawny, a bottle of Hardy’s 71 Sauterne Semillon, took a punt on 2 bottles of 90 Mount Avoca Cabernet and after some mad bidding, a single bottle of 95 Pepiere Muscadet. I really wanted the 84 Elizabeth Semillon and the 2 halves of 68 Midira Desert Semillon, but sometime you just have to let them go.

I bought two magnums each of all Brovia’s 2017 Barolos. Plus their 2014 Barolo Unio ( all Cru’s blended )

Paid for by a cash handout from the HK government which is kind of novel. A kind friend stores my wines bought abroad in Hong Kong. If the world ever returns to normal I’ll get a stack of wine home
