There's a soft-fibre brush inside. Maybe for brushing camera lenses?

Sounds reasonable, though I thought, from what I remember, those brushes came with a puffer to blow air.

We have a winner! Doesn't work with corks that are allowing air in (and naturally, out). And it can be a bit touch and go when the cork is very old and a bit brittle. But it (usefully) won't drop a bit of cork into the bottle, like some of my corkscrews can.

It's also useful in defending the wine cellar!!!
