Hmm, I have Rocca Delle Macie's Chianti Classico Riserva and their super Tuscan called Roccato but I haven't heard of a Zingarelli. Is it a single vineyard Chianti?

Nice, I've never had the whites actually..and I'm undecided on whether I prefer red 1 or 2.

With all the positive talk of the Dappled Chardonnay I grabbed a doz from the Dappled website. Low volume left though if anyone is interested.

You won't be disappointed. Fantastic Chardonnay at a reasonable price and highly recommended.

(6) 2016 Yangarra McLaren Vale Shiraz
This is the one that Halliday refuses to spit during tasting. I probably will never know how it tastes aged. Great drink after about 1h decant, with Alberta steak of course.

Been meaning to try these for a while

3* 2008 Gouais, Chambers
3* 2018 Sparkling Gouais, Chambers

Presuming that the 08 will be in an oxidised, slighly sherried style. No idea about the bubbles.

Also ordered a half case of the 19 Riesling, Express Winemakers. Spent 10 months under Flor and hope its as good as the Brian Rizza.

Despite not wanting to buy anymore wines, especially ones that need cellaring, I couldn't resist picking up a Napa Valley wine made from an iconic vineyard, the Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard. It was made by Realm, from the unfavoured 2011 vintage, but who cares, it is producer that matters, and my only excuse is that I got it for a super price.

Hi Frederico,

How did you manage to get the Castelgiocondo for C$37?

Auction buys last night. All have been in same cellar since purchase on release!

2 x 1958 Mildara Hunter Coonawarra Cab Shiraz
2 x 1981 Ch Tahbilk Cab Sav
3 x 1981 Eileen Hardy Cab Malbec

The 1958 is of particular interest as it is a birth year wine. The levels are really good for 62 yr old bottles.

1958 was not a particularly good year in general (great on Piedmont though) and good examples are very rare these days. Price estimate was $10-15 but there were three keen bidders and it was well over $100 at the end.

Here is what I found out about it...

From Len Evans: " Many of the rarest, oldest and greatest wines were opened during this extraordinary week including a 1952 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Echezeaux, 1958 Mildara Yellow Label Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz and a flight of Hunter Valley dry red including the famous Lindeman’s Bin 3110 Shiraz"

Mildara website: " In 1958, Ron Haselgrove assembled an experimental blend of 50% Coonawarra Shiraz and Cabernet and 50% Hunter Shiraz to make a wine that still ranks as one of Australia’s finest."

The Age article: Great Wines 1950s: Penfolds 1952 and 1953 Grange; Woodley's Coonawarra 1953 (shiraz); Seppelt Great Western Bin J34 1953 claret; Woodley Coonawarra 1955 Treasure Chest claret; Mildara Hunter-Coonawarra 1958 and 1959 cabernet shiraz; Henschke 1959 Hill of Grace; Reynella 1957 and 1959 cabernet sauvignon.
