I can't speak for other regions, but talking to a couple of winemakers I know, 2020 was down significantly on volume in the Barossa as the drought and bush fires (Adelaide Hills) hit them hard. Not good at all.

Cheers

If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

Vintage 2020 has seen it all and been a challenging one for grape growers and winemakers alike, but the overall quality is exceptional throughout just about all regions; the ripening conditions could not have been more perfect really in SA. But the damage was done early by consecutive drought years, bush fires and the main driver, poor crop set. Cold and windy conditions at flowering followed by an unseasonal hot day of mid 40s threw crop set into disarray. All SA regions were effected with volumes significantly down. Marque wines from 2020 will be in very short supply. That's Agriculture.

20 caps off a good run of vintages for SA with 16, 18, 19 all looking very good, some varieties will fair better than others depending on region. 17 was wet and cold, personally avoiding buying much except my annual mailers.

Does 3 bottles a week make me a lightweight on this board? I suspect so.
