It's terrific. Down a bit on the bubbles but rich, like drinking a perfectly aged port. Mushroomy on nose and lots of secondary development and still very plummy. Very long finish.

Also had the seppelt today. Ridiculously good. Lots of flyspray and crushed ants. Very complex nose. Stalks and herbs, spice. Gaminess, sour cherries. Palate: rich dried fruit. Nice savoriness. Terrific acid, linear, very long.

Have all too much of some stuff so time to drink it - Rockford gets the nod this Xmas. Vertical of 04, 05 and 06 Rockford BP and an 03 VP for late in the night. Had an 04 disgorge Black Shiraz on Xmas Eve that was stellar. Best I've had in years. Have a Merry Yule everyone and drink responsibly (or at least give lip service to the idea!).

Boxing day at my friends house and he will be serving me leftover goose cooked in Beaujolais and I will be taking a 1989 Chateau de la Gardine Cheteauneuf-du-Pape, also a white, and though I haven't decided yet it might be a white Chateauneuf-du-Pape or a godello from Spain.

Christmas day we are having lamb and chicken rotisserie over charcoal.
Starting with a 1994 Leasingham Classic Clair Sparkling Shiraz then maybe a 1995 Reynell Basket Press Cabernet.

Cheers Con.
I had this the wrong way around, I was drinking the Reynell while cooking then the Sparkling with the food later.

Lamb on top, chicken breast and thigh on the left and chicken wings on the right.

Cheers Con.

Con

I hope you had more than a few bottles of each wine as that’s some serious meat on show. Looks fantastic.

Con, that looks smashing - it's afternooon here and my mouth is watering. Unfortunately I will have to make do with the roast turkey that I'll be served this evening.
