I didn't know they made a Sparkling Shiraz and a vintage one at that. Is it made in a big fruity or a more savoury style?

If you've never tried it see if you can get your hands on some Aussie Rosé made from Nebbiolo. Favourite producers of mine are Adelina, Domenica and Latta.

Yep been a favourite of mine for the $$. Always a tough question about style, as all sparkling reds I know of are usually
topped up with ports/fortified. PLUS McLaren Vale fruit is usually richer and riper as well, having said that it still
has some savoury elements, but definately not 'bone dry' style.

Cheers for the Rose` recommendations Ozzie. Latta are a great producer and will hunt them down, along with the other wines!

still the cream of the crop for me.
Had some Braydun hill Crimson silk the other day which was very good.
Rocko Black shiraz in the mix.

Went to Hentley Farm Members night at Sparkke on mondee tried their latest offering of sparkling shiraz.
Didn't mind it but yeah nah.
Did love the their new 2019 Eden valley Rizz, 2017 GSZ stray mongrel and 2018 Old Legend grenache.
got a mix dozen of the above.
Did enjoy the heavier brute reds in the Beast and Beauty but weren't my faves.

I bet nobody bought Barolo Chinato for Xmas? Well I did. 2 x 500ml bottles of Cappellano. The last two in HKG. Augustus hates the import paperwork evidently.

Disclaimer: my cousin is part-owner of this label but ...

They only make rosè - Mazi Wines. They've had some good press. Mail order only. Have a look if you are curious.

Cheers.

I spotted a single bottle of this on a "Blowout" shelf and how could I not resist, the varietal, the fun label, and it had a bit of age: 2015 Barbera da Vine, Piedmont DOC, 12.5%. Made of barbera, low in alcohol, and probably in a fresh, juicy style. About $15 Australian.

Actually they look really interesting George! Trouble is, I don't want 12 and there is no way to add to the cart by the bottle/3 pack ect.

Would love 3 of the Limited Release and 3 of the Normal Rose` but website wont allow it, probably tell your cousin to update the website
and they may get more sales. Even if they add delivery for under a dozen orders, would be happy to pay.

Hi Sam,

The Bila Haut is a very good wine. Drank a whole bunch of the 2013 vintage when they came up for sale and then held back a few to see how they would fare with some age. Sale price here means C$14 or €9.5, out of curiosity what does it go for in Paris?

Yeah I like them- good easy drinking wine in an almost Australian-esque style (sweet purple fruit). This deal was €7.90 in 6s which I felt was pretty darn good!

Excellent price Sam. Your description is most apt now that I recall that I had a few 2012 bottles as well, fruitier and more forward. The 2013 was fractionally lower in alcohol and a more pronounced mineral and garrigue edge.

Picked up some Wynns BL at 2 for $50 and managed to get 2016 (which I hadn't bought yet for some reason) and 2017s.
Also realised I hadn't got the 2016 Majellas when discussing the vertical with Brian Lynn and he mentioned they had moved onto the 2017s.

No more purchases for the year!

1 X 2008 Dom Perignon
3 X 2013 Penfolds Reserve Bin Aged Riesling
1 X 2016 Penfolds Cellar Res. Grenache
2 X 2017 Penfolds Cellar Res. Sangiovese
3 X 2014 Penfolds 311 Chard.

Xmas Gifts :D :D :D
1 X Primo Joseph Sparkling Red
1 X 2017 Giaconda Estate vineyard chardonnay

I wandered into pennies Nuri cellar door couple of days ago.
Crikey it was busy. I went back the following day to retrieve my order due to the heat and it was even busier.
I don't think I've seen a cellar door that packed. To their credit they had a serious amount of staff on board
doing their best. No luxury tasting for me in that environment but i did try current St henri and mara 150.
St henri yeah hmmm ho hum but 150 really showing potential.
Some good 2 for 1 half price bin specials and other little bits and pieces.
Breezed over to first drop for a taste but closed til early Jan.
Back up there next month for Rockford lunch and more planned tastings (sans kids next time   )
