Purple black in colour, and quite dense.
The nose is full of dark fruits - black plums, blackcurrants and maybe blueberry. There's supporting cedary oak, and lots of black pepper. ALso some cloves and spice.
The palate shows more of the prominent fruit. Tannins are not prominent, but present, and provide gentle grip. Acid is noticeable, and adds freshness. There's also some savoury notes (graphite, timber) on the palate that add interest, but mostly, this wine is about the fruit. Long finish.
At 6 years old, I think I am drinking it about 4 years too early. Certainly, experience with previous vintages would support this. And this is the Estate model, not the top-of-the-range Block 9. Good wine for the price.
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
