Just wondering who else is going to grab some of the JWT winner?

I will probably get a btl to try (at least one anyway).
Part motivation is that I believe 2016 was a great Margaret River year. I will be on the lookout for other reds as well. I have also put away some of the Woodlands 2016's as well but in prior months.

I have ordered 3 bottles. Mainly so in a few years time I can have a JWT tasting. I have 4 recent winners. My guess is that it might be disappointing, but that's why I only buy three of them. Hopefully the judges got it right!

SaM,

An interesting mix of wines there, some of which I had not heard of before. However, I am intrigued by the first one on your list, the Lustau East India Solera 1996. This must be a new one because the bottles I've seen of the East India Solera have not had a year on the bottle. In fact I have a bottle left over from a purchase quite a few years ago.

Mahmoud.

Hey Mahmoud,

I have copied it as listed by the seller, but I think this is indeed not a vintage wine. Loving the last line which is the opposite of typical vendor hyperbole!

"One of the great icons of Bodegas Lustau was created from a combination of the finest Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez, which after long aging, were then aged together for at least three years in special 33 American oak casks.

East India Solera was thus treated, a creamy, sweet yet moderate wine containing 140 grams of residual sugar. Aging in the wettest and warmest part of the winery, the wine encourages you to remember naval voyages to the former Spanish colonies in the Indian Ocean during the seventeenth century. The end result is not indifferent."

Indeed checking the Lustau website confirms this- it is of course a blended solera style wine with average age of 15yrs

6 x each of Elio Grasso's 2015 Barolos. Casa Mate and Chiniera.

Up about 20% on 2013 but these Barolos are table lifters in great vintages!
