The three Lindeman's wines of 1998, the Limestone Ridge, Pyrus, and St. George, were all very nice wines when young. I tasted them at the Coonawarra cellar door and thought they were cellar candidates. I have other vintages of these wines here in Canada so am very interested to know how they are whenever you open them.

I'd also be interested in hearing about the '88 Jamieson's Run. I bought the '91 and '92 when a saleman in Calgary (a three hour drive south of where I live) told me about the wine having won the Jimmy Watson Trophy. A bottle of one of these wine (can't recall the vintage) was still dark and tannic only two years ago.

I found a 98 Limestone in my cellar buried deep away at the back. I was concerned the fruit would have dried out and the wine long past it’s use by date.

I was however pleasantly surprised upon opening the wine to find it had matured into an excellent wine and the timing was perfect. Red fruit, soft in a Margaux ish manner, almost feminine with red fruit and medium bodied, velvety tannins and reasonable length on the finish. Personally I wouldn’t be holding them much longer. My storage condition are low temperature so if stored closer to high teens definitely worth opening now.

Will let you know when I open them. The Lindies have been favourites for a while but I stopped buying them in the 90s and 00s as the QPR was not so flash and they lost their way a bit style wise. I got back on board with the 2010, 2012 and 2013 vintages, but then the (discounted) price leapt from $30 to $50 so I haven't bought the 14s, 15s or 16s - though I have liked them a lot at the Coonawarra Roadshow.

I used to buy the Jamieson's run all the time in the late 80s. Fortunately it was a big volume wine and the JWT didn't hike the price too much.

I was tempted by the '86 Jamiesons also - as I was looking for sets of six. But in the end I decided four 6-packs was quite enough (discretion being the better part of valour - and just in case storage wasn't quite up to scratch).

I have adopted a more US military style of "don't ask, don't tell" which works most of the time.

Great to see some Frugal Farmer in there, an underrated wine. I like to give it a good 30-45 minute chill in the fridge which I believe brings out it's best.

The 2006 Hewitson Old Garden at 10 years was one of the best wines I've ever had the pleasure to drink and still had many years on it.
