Standouts for me were the Majella cab - what an exceptional wine for the price point (also enjoyed the Mallea), Woodlands vertical, Noon Reserve Cab and Standish (which isn't to the taste of some others who frequent this board - but my guilty pleasure is alcohol driven fruit bombs). Was about to pounce on the muscat, when time was called - oh well.
Majella on tasting thu / sat at a local retailer, so might pop in tomorrow for a tasting.
Hi Adele,
Agree, Majella is on fire. Skipped all of the Coonawarra wineries on Wednesday as I tried most of the wines at the recent Coonawarra Roadshow.
Also skipped Woodlands as I'm a little bit familiar with their brilliant wines. And went past Drew's table, have lots of Noon in the cellar and will do my annual pilgrimage down their CD in November (watch out for the lime cordial ;-)). Re Standish, really? Thought he had a lot of supporters here on the forum, maybe more on TWF. Luckily I'm not so much a style slave, actually quite the opposite, I'm always on the lookout for a different style. One day I'm in the mood for a light ethereal wine, then the other day I'm in for some hefty stuff. Always trying to broaden and expand my tasting experience and also try to appreciate a challenging wine. It's all so much fun.
Cheers, Mario
