Re: Moss Wood Cabernet recommendations
Nice timing michel, I opened the 2001 last night!
Was only a 750ml and sealed under screwcap. Drinking well now, with plenty of plush fruit on display. We opened it against the 2001 Jack Mann and the MW was the unanimous pick. About 5 or 6 years ago we lined up the MW, Jack Mann and Cullen all from 2001 and at that time I thought the Jack Mann was looking the goods and certainly the most youthful. Last night it was still very dark fruited but the acid was poking out a bit. On last nights showing the MW looked more balanced and composed albeit at the richer end of the cabernet spectrum. Enjoyed by all. Nice time to drink it.
A had the 1999 almost a year ago. It was my last bottle and I'm glad it was.....just too ripe for me. Felt warm on the finish and fruit didn't appear to have a fine structure holding it up. I couldn't see it getting better. My wife liked it though!
I've got a soft spot for the 1996, very much a favourite vintage of MW for mine. I'm down to my last bottle but have not had one in years. I'd hope its superb.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

Re: Moss Wood Cabernet recommendations
Hi Michel,
We had a '99 at the Sydney offline in April. Terrific wine, some of the group's comments were as below:
"Moss Wood Cab 1999 - My wine of the night by a country mile, classic combination of power and finesse, appeared to be far more youthful than the vintage would suggest as far as the fruit profile goes, however the tannin structure was right in its peak drinking window for me - still present but hardly overwhelming. Would love to see this with rare roast beef and horseradish." - Winetastic
"Moss Wood – fantastic wine, really nicely balanced, really pure and focused fruit. Would love to sit on one of these over the night as it was constantly evolving. Onya mse " - Dave Vino
"Moss Wood Cabernet 1999 – Now we’re talking. Harmony and class. Restrained power. Still quite primary, but a lovely glass of wine. My 2nd choice." Tigger
I had the '96 at Xmas about 7 years ago ... so not sure I can offer much of a view on it. Was very good at the time.

Re: Moss Wood Cabernet recommendations
I have had the 96 a few times over the past 12 months, absolutely beautiful wine, probably with time still on it's side.

The 96 magnum is quite a stubby bottle.
