TN: Framingham F-series Gewurztraminer 2014 (Marlborough NZ)

G'day

This Riesling specialist (in the land of Sauvignon Blanc) also makes a few dessert wines in half bottles. Most are Riesling (to BA and TBA level) but this is made from Gewurztraminer.

Golden colour and clear and bright. Intense nose of apricot, lychee, orange peel, and crème brulee. The palate is luscious and viscous, with more dried and concentrated fruits melding with the sugar richness to provide a mouth-filling burst of flavour. It finishes cleanly, however, due to a line of acid running through the wine, and therefore the wine is not cloying.

I suspect the wine will mature over the next few years, but it's most enjoyable right now, with sufficient richness and intensity to satisfy without being overpowering.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
