Data Logger Suggestions

Post by timnit »

Hey Everyone

I want to get a Temp and Humidity Data Logger for under my stairs to assess the viability of storing wine there.. centraliased staircase, no external walls...

However looking online for a data logger there are so many options.. The less i spend the more I spend on wine, so that is a consideration, however will not compromise if need be.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

We use these guys for research, anything from them will be reliable and accurate. Just comes down to budget.

I would buy one of the small pendants, put it on a bottle of wine or in a box and check in on it every few months. I think the battery on them lasts over a year and can store thousands of readings. You can set how often it reads the temperature.

Not a data logger per se, but you can get a thermometer/hygrometer combo for under $10 from ebay which will record the lowest and highest temperature and humidity.

If it's your place of residence why not a temp gauge with a remote sensor?
Put the display somewhere you frequent daily.
It's what I do with my cellar. I've got the display in a spot i walk past every day.
It's almost a pointless exercise for me now as I've watched it over the past 24+ months since i discovered it.
14 winter/19 summer. Prob changes 0.1 degrees over a week if it's lucky.
Every 2 months I refill a small bucket of water to keep the humdity up.
The occasional curious visitor interetsted in having a look down there always comment on 'how cool it is' temp wise.
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.
