Noon Tastings Today at CD, 21/11/04

Always a thrill to take that dirt road into Noon's winery from the back streets of MV. Great Adelaide sunshine making those lovey bush, unirrigated, vines reflect a wonderful light green hue. Walked in the CD today and found Drew and family around the table, probably his first chance of the day to take a breather. Atmosphere developed soon afterwards as a few more happy souls strolled in for their delivery pick-up and a chance to taste the 03's. Yesterday was their first day of opening and any small amount of single bottles available for sale apparently went quickly...lucky i have my special 11. Tasted all wines available except the Port. Happy with what i tasted, but did noticed that the Eclipse 03 did not jump right out and hit you a big one in the nose and mouth, unlike the 02...but i'm sure it will be standing tall in a few years.

I went up yesterday (Saturday) arvo and there were only a few people but it must have been the quiet beofre the storm as by the time we went to leave we had to squeeze through the crwod trying to get out. Apparently the morning crowd were absolutely packed in like sardines and extended way out the door waiting to get a tase.

I agree with your view of the 03, didn't find it as balanced as the 02. The reserve shiraz was quite rich and sweet, almost tawny port like while the cabernet was quite austere. All very good and have opened a bottle of the eclipse for dinner :D
