Who makes the Squid Ink, what does it sell for, and is it available in Sydney?

It's made by McLaren Vale Associates 111 - mainly McLaren fruit I imagine. It's usually $64 at DM but they had a special for $27 so i thought I'd try some. I'll let u know what it's like.

For the price I paid $ 27.50 per bottle inc delivery its quite good. No way would I pay the RRP of $ 65+
as you are in Primo's Joseph, Ashton Hills, and Rockford's Black Sparkling territory at that price and they are
all infinitely better wines.

I bought the same deal last year when it was offered and it went quickly. Can be a bit porty at times, depends on the vintage and dosage
but last year was good. 100% McLaren Vale fruit, so think chocolatey, black/dark fruits & spice. I was quite impressed with the delicacy
of the bubbles, they were quite soft and silky.

At this price though ($ 27.50), Tahbilk, Braydun Hill and Coates are just as good... possibly better depending on your preferences.

I confess that I tend not to like porty and chocolatey notes in my wines (unless it really is a port) but at the reduced price it might be worth a try.

Wayno, should have got onto that 13 Pyrus and LR...at the price it was a steal!! However, have a 6 each of the 2012 trio so probably don't need anymore Lindies or Coonawarra for that matter.
Makes an absolute mockery of the brand, but with no CD in Coonawarra, a winemaker that gets no attention, a new label that looks like the crap gentleman's series...its no wonder that current releases can be had for 1980s prices!!

Yes the Rizza bug has taken hold:

Crabtree Riesling
Petaluma Riesling
Leasingham Classic Riesling
Pewsey Vale 1961 Riesling

And some more Metala...shit at $9:50, Christmas presents sorted for a few relies

Cheers

A six pack of 2015 Clos des Lambrays ordered a couple of months ago has now been delivered to my mate in Hong Kong. My 3 bottles will eventually make there way to me in Oz as a duty free allowance. I tasted at this domaine in 2014 and they are doing good things and the price is still good for a grand cru.

A few nights ago, I took a bottle of 15 year old Rockford Sparkling Shiraz from my cellar. It was fantastic, reminding me that this wine is superb with age in many disgorgements but not so much my thing when young.

So I bought 6 x the current disgorgement at Stonewallers and 6 x Basket Press 2014. Now BP, a definite old friend, seemed a little light on structure and intensity from a minuscule pour a CD. My palate requires a half bottle for sound assessment.

I though $800 a bit steep for the 12 though and was comforted by a TRS refund of $200.

A 6-pack of St Hallett Old Block sets you back $600.00.

A 6-pack of Henschke Mt Edelstone is $1,350.00.

Just saying.

Will be popping up to Rockford in a couple of weeks, usually do my Stonewaller order in December, feels like Christmas presents to self :D :D and staff are generally in a festive mood.
Guess I could always ask them to leave a open halve of BP on the bench to see what me and the missus think of it.

Agree George, whilst BP is 'perhaps' getting a little exxy its nowhere near the delusional bullshit prices of so many other Barossa Shirazes...

2 x 2010 Cecile Tremblay Chapelle Chambertin
3 x 2012 Cecile Tremblay Chambolle Musigny Les Feusselottes (one for me; 2 for my mate in HK)

This domaine is my favourite red burgundy producer after Rousseau and Roumier so I can't resist.
