Just opening the day before and see how you feel about the wine the next day. I'd guess it will still need a few hours in a decanter , it may not budge otherwise.

The bottle of 98 I had a year or so ago did get more vigorous aeration and wasn't as stubborn !

The 98s I have had were really hard...like Wendouree style on crack...

I actually think it'll be a good contrast to anyone bringing the newer styles..

Hi Hacker, can you please put me on the reserve list?

Thanks

Has a final date been decided? Good chance I'll be able to make it down.

I'd assumed it was on the 29th given the repeated thread title, which I can't make. :)

If it's on another date, please add me as a reserve.

Lauren and I are less tentative now and should be able to make it.

Also looking for some feedback as to when and how to open a 2001 Shiraz Malbec. If you guys think it's not worth bringing, then happy to bring something else.

Currently between the 2 of us, thinking of bringing a champers, a white, and the Wendouree SM 01.

And just like that I can no longer make it down. :( The pitfalls of working with live animals, sometimes they breed out of no where and you have to raise the babies!

I am opening and decanting my Cab Malbec first thing on the day, and Nick will probably do the same. From most feedback they need a good lot of air to come around.

2001 Shiraz Malbec is a great contribution
Had it a year or two ago and it was very good if I recall correctly
Think maybe an afternoon decant would be fine, from what I can remember I think it drank pretty well not long after opening and was drinking beautifully a couple of hours later.
Morning decant would probably do it some added justice but I wouldn't worry at all if you don't get around to it until later.
On the other hand I am happy David and I agree to hit the decanter nice and early with the 98's!

Even had my bottle standing for a couple of days :(

Hope you guys enjoy and will see some of you at the pinot chardy night.

Cheers,
Sorry to hear, the flu has been aggressive this year.
So, we are down to ten. Slightly bigger pours unless others might like to take the two spots.

Link to the menu:
https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/460b72_cf2b60 ... 1a5e60.pdf
We are the second menu, on the second page, $70 pp plus $5 pp corkage. Bargain. $10 tip pp brings us to $85 pp, unless we order a dish or two more. If you can bring cash all the better.

I'm excited!
