Port Barrel Storage In Warmer Weather Conditions

Post by ninjabloke »

Hi All

Seeing if anyone has any good information or experience they can share with there port barrels in regards to how to properly store them in hotter conditions.

I'm looking at getting myself one soon, but as i live in Darwin not sure how it will hold up in the temperature, the humidity is high and weather is generally Hot.

Anyone able to still make a nice port in there barrel over long period of time in warmer weather conditions?

Thanks

Generally speaking higher storage temperatures contribute to faster wine development. I have heard of winemakers putting barrels in the hottest part of sheds to speed up maturation time.

Taken from another site: In the tropics we recommend finding a spot between 20-30°

In Adelaide the humidity is not that high, the humidity is always at about %80 + in Darwin, wonder what impact that would have?
