Just got charged. Red Crayon. Been ordering since 2010 vintage. I order 3 of everything (bar muscat) every year. Looks like I only got 8 or 9 bottles this time around. I'm not that bothered to be honest, but my wife will be very unhappy as it's her favourite winery.

Cheers
Ian

What did you order?

Order something of everything - all 6 varieties. They like that

Always do, I'm more interested in the blends to be honest.

I've actually gone the other way. After focusing on the blends for the last couple of years I was more interested in straight Shiraz and Cabernet this year. Of the blends, I only grabbed some Cab Malbec as it is always a strong performer.

Checked my credit card today, got scaled back by around 40%. Ordered 6 of everything, and have been buying for almost a decade.

Sent my form back mid-July - perhaps a bit late on the response. Nevermind! Have already spent too much in 2017 anyway.

A mate of mine (who has never ordered before) rang up about a month ago to get on the mailing list, received an order form, placed the order, received a full order within a month including Shiraz and Cabernet. I could not believe it (I had to see the wine in the boxes to be sure!).

I really don't have any faith in their allocation system. It seems very ad hoc to me and I question the logic of new buyers getting preference over long term buyers as evidenced here from some of the comments. I am still to be billed as yet by the way (and buy 3 dozen every year or more). It's looking like my chances of getting my order in full is slim at best.

Would echo the above - my order arrived recently without any cabernet. Seems to be a lucky dip! Oh well, money saved for other purchases I guess.

Just phoned up and they confirmed that only wine left was Sh/Mal and Sh/Mat. Missed out on the rest. I adjusted the volumes of the order on these two and she indicated that it would probably get filled in a week or two. Wouldn't surprise me if I get a letter saying even these will be sold out by then.

So a run of 11 vintages (less 07 of course) just stops like that. Mmmm not very impressed given the $ spent with them over the journey. I might ring up with an Alias next April and get a second order form just for insurance....

No Cabernet or Cabernet Malbec for me in the end. Bit of everything else though. I love their straight Malbec so pleased to get a few bottles of that.

Been on the mailer 7 years. Never really misses anything before except occasional straight cab early one. Usually buy 12-18 bottles mixed. But have heard from a few that they have not received anything and its basically run out.

Funny given that looking back on letters the allocations were far more restricted on bottles on my earlier forms than this year (just shiraz and cab)

I don't mind missing out. Its a lottery and a pleasure to get anything from them.

But a little frustrated that unless you have black or signature, all red lines are treated the same whether it be 1 year or 10.

Ah well.

Maybe it's a 'ya snooze ya lose' deal.
I've been on the mailer since the 09 vintage and I'm still a red striper.
But I've always received what I've ordered. Is it because I'm in SA and I send the order back within 24-48 hrs?
I dunno. Another Wendouree mystery. :?

Think I just lucked out this year.

Since the 98 vintage (so, I'm assuming, 2000?) crikey, what does one have to do to get a black one?

My card was debited yesterday and looks like I am only getting 3 of the blends/malbec. Red striper and sent in the form in the week received asking for a mixed lot of 18 bottles. I agree with wiggum, I don't think that there is any methodology to their allocation. Not too disappointed though, I went big on Barolo, Barbareco and Etna Ross, and my Marius has come in. Happy with those till the next Stonewaller release :)

Mine was debited on Wednesday (only posted it the previous week)

Looks like I only got half of what I ordered (no idea what). Due to my lateness I wasn't expecting too much.

Totally lottery this year.

I know a few people on the mailer.

But an example of the randomness this year. 3 of us all joined same year 7 or so years ago. All send back straight away. All always got orders (except Cab sometimes). All from SA.

This year one got allocation and two of us didn't.

I tend to agree Livcol. Bit of a lottery. It appears to me (only really guessing) that they have accepted significant numbers onto their mailing list over the last few years beyond what their production numbers can deal with. And 80% of their list on one category band being the red stripe. Someone's gotta miss out.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong

My GP is a relatively new addition to the mailing list (maybe 5 years?) and made it onto the list via a private connection with the Bradys. He showed me his order form awhile back and he has black signature.

I have no idea how many additions there have been to the mailing list but when I called Wendouree a few weeks back I was told it was a very small vintage. I think that might have more to it than there being an influx of people onto the list (I didn't read about too many of these problems last year, for instance)

Interesting, I guess it's the same as everywhere: it's who you know.

How sad. It will be a cold day in hell before mine ever go to auction.

Always good to come to on my first day back in the office after 6 weeks.

I think the regular grape pickers get paid in Wendouree wine? Could be a flipping source?
