I know... it's very uncharacteristic for me. However, 2017 brings a new approach to my purchases. You'll need to get use to it! :)

  • Quality over quantity. Cut down on number of purchases, but raise the bar.
  • Balance the Chi in my cellar. Bottle count of Pinot Noir exceeds Shiraz.
  • Drink as much wine as apparently all my friends and family think I do!

First two resolutions on track. Last one not going so well.

6 * 1988 Wynns John Riddoch
Had this a while ago and was in a perfect spot.... one of my wines of the year.
When I saw some come up, I grabbed them. About half the price of current vintage RRP....
hopefully they are as good as my previous bottles.

Not the 2015s. But I've had 2014 before.

Anyone familiar with the Wynns range? I had a 2013 V & A Lane shiraz last week that was amazing. Really enjoyed it. How are the 2014's? I have an opportunity to purchase the 2014 Wynns V & A Lane Shiraz for $35. Which is damn good considering they are $45 through the Wynns John Riddoch wine club so very cheap.

Just a half bottle of Crociani vin Santo so far, but eyeing up some more Portuguese wines. Will report in if me resistance weakens sufficiently.

I've always made an exception for Etna wines. 2013 was such a good vintage in Barolo, I couldn't limit myself to just 1 bottle.

I can't help with your question but I'm glad you posted and that I read it as I don't usually take much noticed of the purchases threads. I picked up a 2013 which I hope to be cracking it this weekend to celebrate / commiserate the start of my fifth decade. I'm keen to see what we think of it.

6 x Vajra Barolo BdV 2008. Smart backfilling of this producer with a very well price and underrated vintage ( except with locals ).

Wish Australian importers brought in more (reasonably priced) back vintages.

Had an offer for some ex-cellar Barolo and the prices were 3-5x current vintage, and were 5-10 years from current release.
