Looks like we have either 8 or 9 for this offline.
Looking forward to it - see you all there about 6.30pm

Sorry but I better pull out from this. Come down with a stomach bug.
Re: Sydney offline 4th May - The 90's and beyond
Sorry for the late response, have been away. Can confirm my attendance and am likely to bring a white and a lighter style red.

Given the wine I have found you will be particularly miffed to miss the dinner.

We have 8 confirmed with 2 tentative (Dave and Mrs Bob)
I'll decant my reds in the morning and recork so they travel better.
I'll try and get there at 6 to meet any early arrivals.

LOL, yes that plastic wrap & crazy funnel thing is going to save us all from the dreaded TCA. No backup bottles even required!
(kidding, backup bottles for 90's Australian wine under cork is near compulsory)
P.S Hoping you can make it Dave and your Mum is all OK.

Re: Sydney offline 4th May - The 90's and beyond
I think I might bring 2 whites as there are already lots of reds.
Confirming Michelle cant make it unfortunately.

Re: Sydney offline 4th May - The 90's and beyond
Happy to see a few whites in the mix, wish I had old whites in the cellar, sad state of affairs indeed, and buying at auction so risky now.
See you all soon, with 8 or 9 of us I'm hoping they put us in that area down the back again.... Looking forward to catching up and enjoying a few blind options! Will bring my spittoons so we aren't too blind.
Cheers
Tim

Hope it is a 750ml bottle. I remember there was this bloke at a previous offline that drank most of the bottle of sticky.

Re: Sydney offline 4th May - The 90's and beyond
Wonderful night. As always, everyone stepped up with really good wines, and the cork gods were very kind.
We missed you Dave & Red Smurf, and my photo skills are truly woeful. As usual I was enjoying myself too much and forgot to take bottle pics from half way through! I think bobthebuilder has a good clear pic of the lineup, but here's my one anyway.
Note the Old Garden bottle contained a John Riddoch 1986, which was excellent. Finally for me, a Riddoch 86 in great condition!
Pierre Peters Les Chetillons 1998
Tyrrell's Vat 47 Pinot Chardonnay 1992
Chateau Tahbilk Marsanne 1996
Tyrrell's Vat 18 Belford Semillon 1998
N. Joly Coulee de Serrant 1980
Wynns John Riddoch 1986
Rhinecastle Bin 289 'Claret' 1971
Lake's Folly Reserve Cabernet 1993
Virgin Hills 1999
Moss Wood Cabernet 1996
Mitchelton Print Shiraz 1995
Cerberus Cellars Coonawarra Cabernet 1976 (faulty)
Lindemans St George Coonawarra Cabernet 1992
Hardy's Eileen Hardy Shiraz 1998
Jacques Puffeney Arbois Vin Jaune 1999
Margan Botrytis Semillon 1999
Hard to pick favourites, as there was consistent enjoyment across the board. As a tannin lover, I was particularly happy with the structure showed by nearly all the reds. Some wines were preferred more by some than others of course, but for me the Coulee de Serrant 80, Riddoch 86, Print Shiraz 95, Eileen 98 and the Vin Jaune 99 stood out a bit over the others, but not by much! I'd happily drink any of these wines anytime. Even the Rhinecastle 'Bin 289' 1971 which was a bit old and fading, still had interest.
Food was excellent as well, covering all the main food groups.. cheese, beef, scallops, chicken, pork, lamb and duck. All felt really fresh and well executed, probably didn't need the cheese course but a few were nibbling on it so all good. Great venue for BYO wine dinners.
Thanks Brett for organising and to all attendees for the pleasure of your company and for bringing lovely wines.
Cheers
Tim

Great night, thanks for organising Brett!
Nearly all the wines showed beautifully, the food was very good, the atmosphere fantastic.
The theme really brought out an interesting and diverse line up.
ninered pens and I stumbled across each other outside the pub on the corner not long after we all left, and decided to celebrate the night with just one beer to finish off.
Funnily enough, your picture is actually much clearer on the bottle details!
