Context. Around that time, you could buy a bottle of 1985 Grange retail for $72
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

Yeah, I saw that. It irritates me slightly that the price increase is a week before tastings are available. "Buy now before tasting" doesn't seem a very customer oriented marketing strategy...

I think we are pretty safe though with 2015 being a great vintage.

What disappointed me was seeing a retailer with the 2016 Syrah Pinot for sale at way cheaper than what I could buy it for direct from YY. So I bought it from the retailer.

Yeah quite a few places have it for around $65 for the older wines. No 1 and the like. I don't mind paying say $5 more at CD but $30+ is stretching the friendship a bit far.

Thanks for the memories Michael,
First YY's that i purchased were the 1990 vintage at the grand sum of $20. Ed cellars back in the day were selling them for this. I have brought smatterings of 1,2,3 and U/hill from 12-14 vintages and have had prices from $72 -80. $65 Dave seems like a bargain. I suspect the owners and one of them is a prominent agri-squillionaire with many interests in Adelaide and the Barossa and a part-owner of YY are going to raise the roof on pricing.
I must get round to joining their wine club...is that where the best prices are?
Cheers
Craig

The last two Yarra Yering wines I tasted (and this is going back about a decade) were the 'Potsorts' fortified and a white sparkler, which I'm not quite sure how it made it to the UK as I presume it was normally a cellar door only wine.

Postage was the thing that jumped out at me - $10 a case! Over 40% of the price of a YY No. 1.
