First try of this Bellarine Peninsula (Scotchman's Hill) shiraz since cellar door tasting a few years ago.
Colour rich brick red, everything in order except the most off-putting stink - the closest I could get was rotting seaweed. Am I being misled by the closeness to Swan Bay? Flavour, balance, soft tannins and length were all fine, and the wine would have been most pleasant quaffing, except for the stink. It eventually blew off to a minor annoyance, but it was too late for us tasters. Has anyone else encountered this off aroma from the vineyard or area? I've hada no such problem with Scotchman's Hill Pinots.
