That's a trick question, isn't it? Why would you only visit one cellar door on the peninsula?
I'd want to take in Paradigm Hill, Paringa Estate and Ten Minutes by Tractor for a bit of lunch. As well as the two mentioned earlier.

I see your point, although I don't always have that problem (as long as the weight doesn't increase). In that case, I'd see if you can book lunch at TMbT as that is almost always amazing. I was allowed to buy some nice pinot after lunch there last time. Paringa is almost as nice and much easier to get into the restaurant.

Kooyong/Port Philip is a pretty impressive cellar door. If you are only going to one it isn't a bad one because they have a lot of different wines between the two labels

Stonier! All the wines on tasting a few months back were pretty spiffy. They've had some tough times, but they are well and truly back in town. Nice staff too.

Officially there's 85 wineries, of which nearly 70 have cellar doors (not open every weekend, mind you!) It might be worthwhile listing those you wouldn't want to visit as well.

Maximum range + impressive building + great views: Kooyong. But less personal.
Maximum quality + legend: Main Ridge. But few wines currently on sales (in between the '14's and 15's).
Great all rounder + few visitors: Moorooduc Estate.
Great all rounder + lots of visitors: Ten Minutes.

I'd go to Moorooduc Estate, if just dropping past off the main road. Or Ten Minutes if up in Red Hill.

Oh, I wouldn't trust the MPVA map as gospel. There are many wineries missing from this (well, when I say "wineries" please remember many of the vineyards/brands available from Mornington may very well actually be made on contract...say at Moorooduc Estate winery...). I'd suggest there will be a cost to be included, which will trim the numbers.

I'd actually speculate you could get a list of over 100 together if you had both time and inclination. Just looking quickly at the latest MPVA map, there is no Dexter (each vintage usually in my top 3 Pinots), no Bellingham Estate (2.5acres near MRE), no Silverwood, no Frogspond (recently sold), no Allies (very lovely 2015 Pinots)...

Truth be told, the list will probably change monthly!

I think you might have to be a member to be listed on MPVA, which could account for the difference(s).
