I'd be keen to come along Luke, haven't been to one of these for a while. I'm sure I'm free at the moment, as I don't plan ahead that far...

Happy to go with the flow - 86 Miskin or somewhere else?

Thought I might bring an EJ Carr 2000 as the last bottle I had was as good as the Taittinger but happy to be led by others.

What themes do others want?

I've always wanted to try the EJ Carr.
I'm happy with 85 Miskin or somewhere like sprout-Will go with the flow.

I've just tentatively booked 85 (not 86 I discovered when I Googled it) Miskin St for 7pm for between 10 and 16 people for the degustation menu (alternatives for those who don't eat seafood) and half price corkage. This can be changed up to a week or 2 beforehand.
I'll bring a 2000 Arras EJ Carr and am happy with whatever theme you go for. Somewhere down the track should we do a Qld wine night?

Can I put down tentative for 3 people? Me and my mate (who Rens and Michael met at the Wild Duck Creek tasting) and his missus.

Just need to make sure I can get time off yadda-yadda.

Found out today Go Live for our core infrastructure move is that weekend. So we won't be able to make it.

Already had some wines already sorted out to bring. :(

Sorry.

Sorry you can't make it Dave, but the Go Live date might be pushed back, no?

Just realised this date is International Grenache Day!!

Better crank this up to see who's coming and what they're bringing as it's a month today. Had some interest from Louis and maybe Jim from the Rockford night at Gerry's. Another interested forumite is Rickowa who may show up as well.

So far

Luke - 2000 Arras EJ Carr
Ian - no doubt a celebratory Grenache
Rens
Michael
vovo
Willard
Rickowa - 2009 Craggy Range Le Sol
Louis - something wonderful

How many +2's?

Cheers

If it's OK with the group, I'll bring a mate along (Danny), as Janine will be unable to make it. He'll more than likely bring something Italian. I will bring a Grenache, probably bring something like a Marco Cirillo 1850's Old Vine, or a Kalleske Old Vine or something of that ilk. Not sure what vintage yet, depends what I can lay my hands on in the cellar.

Cheers

Just me, no +1.

Got a few options for what to bring, as seems an open theme:

Reds - Looking at a 2003 Yering Station Reserve Shiraz Viognier, or a 1999 Houghton Gladstones Shiraz.
Have very little Grenache, do have a bottle of '09 Pannell, but still might be too early.
Or might be able to bring something Italian - I don't have a great selection, perhaps only if I have something to match with Ian's mate's wine.
Any preferences?

If there's not many whites on the list so far - I was thinking maybe showing a little cross-regional mini-horizontal of 2005 Riesling (say Drumborg, Leonay (Eden), Leasingham Classic Clare). Any interest in that?

So far

Luke - 2000 Arras EJ Carr
Ian and Danny - Marco Cirillo / Kalleske Old Vine Grenache
Rens - 2004 Yalumba Signature
Michael - tba
vovo -tba
Willard - Drumborg, Leonay and Classic Clare Riesling combo
Rickowa - 2009 Craggy Range Le Sol
Louis and Teena - 2012 Jones Road Mornington Peninsula Nepean Chardonnay x 2
Jim and Sonya - 2012 Penfolds St Henri + 1

12 seems to be a good number - should we leave it there or take a couple more? Premiums preferably gentlemen - it's a bit ordinary when you bring along a $10 bottle of plonk that tastes better than its $80 neighbour!

cheers

I might have been a bolter for this, as Go Live has been moved forward a week to the 11th. (90% chance)

See you have 12 already, 14-15 is too many leaving you with only small pours.

Will keep an eye out for any drop outs over the next week or so.

Dave

You would be more than welcome. In my experience 14-15 is the ideal number (and ur right usually 1 or 2 do drop out), so we're better off having the higher number. Still 3? Wines?

cheers
