G'day
If you're one of the several people that have followed some of my posts over the years, you will probably realise I have a soft spot for the Perth Hills. They contain a number of tiny wineries, that seem to produce interesting wines from tiny parcels of grapes. I've been a fan of Cosham for some years now, and reviewed a number of their wines on this site.
Maxinne and Rod planted their vines in the late 1980s / early 1990s, I believe, and the vines are well and truly mature. There's a good range of reds, but this is the only white (even their sparkling wine is made from 100% pinot noir).
Their current release is this wine, the 2008. The wine is yellow in colour, heading to gold, but nowhere near there yet. The nose is quite savoury, with grilled nuts, and the primary peachy fruit has developed into secondaries. The palate is full and rich, with buttery toast, nectarine marmalade, and a good lick of acid to keep the wine fresh. Medium finish, mouthfilling (for a white), and would ideally go with a creamy chicken dish. An excellent food wine.
It's interesting to have these wines released with some bottle age (the sparkling wine is looking good at 10 years old, mostly spent on lees), and although there is vintage variation, I've not had a poor wine from 2004 - 2008. A bargain at $20.
Cheers
Allan

Cosham Chardonnay 2008
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
